Misrepresentation

What is misrepresentation? Misrepresentation is defined as a false, erroneous or misleading statement made directly or indirectly to a student, prospective student, any member of the public, an accrediting agency, a state agency or the Department of Education. A misleading statement includes any statement that has the likelihood or tendency to deceive. A statement is any communication made in writing, visually, orally, or through other means.

This applies to statements made by a school, one of its representatives, or any third party for which the institution has agreements to provide educational programs or provide marketing, advertising, recruiting, or admissions services. Substantial misrepresentation is defined as any misrepresentation on which the person to whom it was made could reasonably be expected to rely, or has reasonably relied, to that person's detriment. Clackamas Community College intends to relay true and accurate information in all forms. Clackamas Community College prohibits all forms of substantial misrepresentations or misleading statements, including those made in any advertising or promotional materials.

Cohort Default Rate

A cohort default rate is the percentage of a school's borrowers who enter repayment on certain Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program or William D. Please refer to the Department of Education's Cohort Default Rate Guide for a more in-depth description of cohort default rates and how the rates are calculated.

Enrollment Note: To provide context for the Cohort Default Rate (CDR) data, we include Enrollment Figures (students enrolled at any time during the year) and the corresponding Percentage Calculation (borrowers entering repayment divided by that enrollment figure). There is no direct relationship between the timing of when a borrower entered repayment and any particular enrollment year; we have chosen to use the academic year ending on the 30th of June before the beginning of the cohort year.
